This clever design helps in reducing the strain when walking dogs that are constantly pulling on the lead, or suddenly take off after another dog or animal seen on the walk. The two interacting springs help in smoothing out the forces caused by any sudden movement.
It is also used by training schools in maintaining an equal force on the lead whilst schooling young animals and teaching ring craft techniques.
